Adults-Only Transformational Wellness and Spa

About Preidlhof

Preidlhof Luxury DolceVita Resort is an adults-only wellness retreat in South Tyrol, set among orchards and vineyards in Naturno, close to the spa town of Merano. Family-owned by the Ladurner family for over twenty years, it has developed one of the most extensive spa and wellness offers in the Alps — over 5,000sqm of facilities, fourteen pools and whirlpools including an indoor thermal pool fed by an Alpine spring, and a six-floor Sauna Tower with sixteen experiences.

The philosophy running through every stay is "The Preidlhof Way" — a balance between pleasure and deeper inner growth, joy and meaning. Nine Transformational Wellness Programmes address specific conditions including menopause, grief, trauma and sleep disturbance, while the gourmet restaurant, awarded three Gault Millau toques, draws on the resort's own vineyard, orchards and herb garden. The Texel Group National Park rises directly behind the property, with the Parcines waterfalls five minutes on foot and guided hikes running several times a week.

04

Guests wanting access to the broader DolceVita Hotels group

A stay at Preidlhof includes access to the facilities of all five DolceVita Hotels — 38 pools, 32 saunas, five sky spas and six gourmet restaurants across the group.

Hotel Facilities

Preidlhof is set within peaceful terraced grounds in Naturno, with gardens, sun decks and open-air spaces looking out across the Vinschgau Valley and the Texel Group mountains. The scale of the grounds means there is always somewhere quiet to sit — beneath the orchards, on a terrace above the vineyards or in the hotel park — while the indoor lounges and reading areas provide comfortable space for time between treatments.

For guests wanting to explore beyond the property, the Parcines waterfalls are five minutes away on foot, the village of Naturns is on the doorstep and guided hikes run several times a week into the surrounding mountains and nature park. Cycling, mountain biking, golf, tennis and excursions into the Dolomites can all be arranged through the resort team. Complimentary canary-yellow Vespas are available for guests wanting to explore the Val Venosta and surrounding villages.

Wellness Facilities

The Preidl Spa spans over 5,000sqm and centres on the six-floor Sauna Tower — one of a kind in the Alps — which brings together seven saunas and steam experiences including the Hot & Fun Panorama Sauna at 90°C, Wine Sauna, Olive Sauna, 5-Element Sauna and Schwarzbrenner clothed sauna, alongside the world's only DEEP SEA Relaxation Room, winner of the European Health & Spa Award for Innovation. Sauna infusion rituals with essential oils and the resident Sauna Master run three to four times daily, with a weekly Sauna Night until 11pm.

Fourteen pools and whirlpools are spread across the spa — including the Sky Infinity Sport Pool, the Infinity Sole Pool at 36°C with 3% salt, the Outdoor Panorama Pool with swim-in/swim-out door and the Indoor Thermal Pool "The 50th", fed by Alpine thermal water piped via a 3km pipeline from the Kochenmoos spring nearby. The thermal water — lightly mineralised with sulphate, fluoride, bromine and iodine — has been used therapeutically since Roman times.

The Preidl Med SPA offers science and evidence-based medical treatments and consultations under resident doctor Dr. Med. Alexander Angerer, with nine Transformational Wellness Programmes addressing menopause, grief, trauma, sleep disturbance and burnout. Fitness facilities include two gyms with Technogym equipment, a functional fitness hall and a meditation pavilion, with 4-8 group sessions running daily — yoga, Pilates, TRX, aqua aerobics, sound healing and guided walks among them.

Dining

Dining at Preidlhof runs across two restaurants reflecting the breadth of the culinary offer. The Gourmet Restaurant, awarded three Gault Millau toques under chef Angelo Didonna, draws on the resort's own vineyard, herb garden, orchards and bee farm — air-dried South Tyrolean Speck, honey from the hotel's own hives, Pinot Nero from the estate's vines and jams from the orchards all feature. The wine cellar holds over 400 labels, with weekly guided tastings available.

The Wellness Restaurant serves the Wellness Healing Gourmet Menu for retreat guests — a seven-course evening menu created by internationally renowned Healing Chef Emanuele Giorgione, changing daily across 49 recipes. Predominantly plant-based and free of gluten, lactose, egg, soy and sugar, it is one of the few gourmet wellness menus in the Alps to have been created specifically for therapeutic retreats. At lunch, a varied Light Lunch Buffet is available for retreat guests.

Good to Know

Preidlhof is part of the DolceVita Hotels group, a collection of five family-run luxury hotels in South Tyrol. Guests booking any one of the five hotels gain access to the facilities of all five as part of their stay — including a combined total of 38 indoor and outdoor pools, 32 saunas, five sky spas and six gourmet restaurants across the group.

Accommodation

Preidlhof has 71 rooms and suites, each with a private balcony or terrace looking out over the orchards, vineyards and mountains of the Vinschgau Valley. Interiors are calm and well-appointed, with the emphasis on sleep quality and rest — a natural extension of the spa and wellness philosophy that runs through every other part of the stay.

Location

Preidlhof sits in Naturno in the Vinschgau Valley, surrounded by orchards, vineyards and the Texel Group National Park directly behind the property. The microclimate here — on the 46° Parallel where the Mediterranean begins — brings a distinctive combination of Alpine peaks and Mediterranean sunshine, with palms and olive trees growing alongside snow-capped mountains. The Parcines waterfalls are five minutes on foot, the spa town of Merano is a short drive and the village of Naturno is on the doorstep for a classic Italian coffee.

Bolzano Airport is approximately 40 minutes away. Innsbruck and Verona airports are both around 2 hours and 15 minutes for guests flying from further afield. For those wanting to explore, the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site is within easy reach.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Preidlhof and what makes it special?

Preidlhof Luxury DolceVita Resort is an adults-only wellness retreat in South Tyrol, set among orchards and vineyards in Naturno near Merano — family-owned by the Ladurner family for over twenty years. The six-floor Sauna Tower with sixteen experiences, fourteen pools including an indoor thermal pool fed by Alpine spring water piped via a 3km pipeline from the Kochenmoos spring, and the world's only DEEP SEA Relaxation Room give the spa a depth and character that few wellness retreats in the Alps can match. Nine Transformational Wellness Programmes address specific conditions including menopause, grief, trauma, sleep disturbance and burnout, guided by resident doctor Dr. Med. Alexander Angerer.

What wellness programmes are available at Preidlhof?

Nine Transformational Wellness Programmes run from 4 to 11 nights — stress and burnout, sleep enhancement, menopause, grief, trauma, longevity, body awareness and couples healing among them. Most programmes begin with a consultation with Dr. Alexander Angerer, who shapes the treatments, movement sessions and nutrition guidance throughout the stay. For guests not following a named programme, the full spa and daily activity schedule — yoga, Pilates, TRX, sound healing, guided walks and aqua aerobics — is available throughout.

What is included in every stay at Preidlhof?

Full access to the Preidl Spa and Sauna Tower, the fourteen pools and whirlpools, daily group activities and both restaurants are included in every stay — alongside access to all five DolceVita Hotels properties across South Tyrol, with their combined 38 pools, 32 saunas, five sky spas and six gourmet restaurants. Complimentary canary-yellow Vespas are available for exploring the Val Venosta and surrounding villages.

What is the food like at Preidlhof?

The Gourmet Restaurant, awarded three Gault Millau toques under chef Angelo Didonna, draws on the resort's own vineyard, herb garden, orchards and bee farm — South Tyrolean Speck, honey from the hotel's hives and Pinot Nero from the estate's vines among the recurring features. The Wellness Restaurant serves the Wellness Healing Gourmet Menu by internationally renowned Healing Chef Emanuele Giorgione — a seven-course evening menu changing daily across 49 recipes, predominantly plant-based and free of gluten, lactose, egg, soy and sugar.

Is Preidlhof suitable for solo travellers?

Many guests arrive alone. The adults-only setting, spacious spa and the Transformational Wellness Programmes — each shaped individually from the first consultation — make it well suited to solo travel, whether the focus is emotional healing, physical restoration or simply time in the mountains.

Is Preidlhof an adults-only retreat?

Yes. Preidlhof is an adults-only wellness retreat, designed to provide a calm and unhurried environment where guests can relax without distraction.

When is the best time to visit Preidlhof?

Spring brings the orchards in blossom and the first hiking days in the Texel Group. Summer is warm and long — the outdoor pools and the Mediterranean microclimate of Naturno at their best. Autumn brings the vineyards at harvest and a quieter atmosphere, and the Sauna Tower and indoor thermal pool make the cooler months equally rewarding.
