Hotel Facilities
Santani offers a welcoming place to retreat and rejuvenate within an unspoilt wilderness in the spiritual centre of Sri Lanka. The temperature at the resort is comfortably cool at 2,800 feet above sea level. Guests are free to roam around these 116 acres of tropical jungle and fertile rice fields, to practice yoga or to meditate along the Hulu River. Dive in and go for a swim in the 16m infinity pool if you wish. In the evening enjoy a glass of bubbly by a campfire, relax in our lounge or meet friends at the bar. The choice is yours.
Wellness Facilities
The tri-level spa is tucked into the hillside’s natural contours and thoughtfully designed with wellness in mind with the only comprehensive hydrotherapy suite in Sri Lanka, including a steam room, open-air thermal soak pool and cedar wood sauna overlooking the Knuckles mountain range, and four treatment rooms that open onto the surrounding paddy fields.
Dining
The food served in the resort’s restaurant-with-a-view is tailored to individual guests’ requirements and follows the Ayurveda philosophy of ‘Rasa Haya’, meaning six tastes. This time-tested practice ensures that all major nutrients are included, and prioritised according to your Ayurvedic body type. The result is delicious, life-enhancing modern dishes that are as pleasing to the eye as to the palette, whether they’re low carbohydrate, Ayurvedic vegetarian, detox or something customised just for you.
Good to Know
To further support your efforts to reset, the rooms do not have televisions. While the digital detox is a key component of the Santani experience, they do offer in-room Wi-Fi on demand.
Location
Santani is situated 32 kilometres and about an hour’s drive from the historic and sacred city of Kandy on the former Aratenna Tea Estate which comprises 116 lush green acres within the small village settlement of Werapitiya. The area of Kandy where Santani is located embodies Sri Lanka’s legendary beauty in its lush greenery, gently undulating landscapes and whooshing rivers. As in the past, Kandy is the spiritual centre of Sri Lanka, home to one of the most sacred relics in Buddhist culture as well as the Kandy Perahera, one of the world’s most extravagant pageants with over 100 adorned elephants and thousands of artists parading through the streets of Kandy every August.

By blurring the distinction between inside and out, these 20 chalets invite you to rest, relax or meditate while inhaling pure fresh air and taking in the pristine, truly inspiring scenery around you. The open architecture used at Santani provides an abundance of fresh air in the chalets. The resort is located 2000 ft above sea level and there is a cool breeze throughout the day. Hence no air-conditioning is used; all rooms are provided with ceiling fans.
