Adults-Only Yoga, Pilates, Detox and Holistic Wellness
About Shanti Som Wellbeing Retreat
Shanti Som Algarve is an adults-only wellness retreat in the Algarve, set in a restored 19th-century farmhouse and former olive mill on four hectares of orange groves and olive trees above the village of Moncarapacho. With just 22 rooms, it has the feel of a private country house, 25 minutes from Faro Airport and a short drive from the Ria Formosa lagoon and the sandy barrier islands of the eastern Algarve coast.
The sister retreat to Shanti Som Marbella, it focuses on movement, rest and recovery, combining holistic therapies with evidence-informed practice — from daily yoga and Pilates to support for burnout and nervous system recovery. Days are shaped around movement, meditation, spa treatments and nourishing food, with time to swim, walk the estate or explore the coast nearby.
The retreat opens to guests in February 2027 and is now taking bookings.

The Shanti Som Approach
The Shanti Som approach is built on five pillars of wellness — movement, nutrition, sleep, nature and connection — woven through each day of the stay. Programmes are tailored to each guest and led by certified practitioners across yoga, Pilates, nutrition, spa therapy and life coaching.
The philosophy is deliberately simple. Shanti Som focuses on habits that are effective, realistic and easy to continue at home, from building strength and eating well to sleeping better and spending time outdoors. There are no fixed retreat dates, so programmes begin on the day each guest arrives.
Hotel Facilities
Shanti Som Algarve occupies a restored 19th-century farmhouse and former olive mill, surrounded by four hectares of private farmland with an orange orchard, olive trees and walking trails into the surrounding countryside. An outdoor infinity pool, open year-round, looks out over the hills, a rooftop terrace offers space to sit out in the sun, and a lounge with a fireplace and library provides a quiet place to read or talk at the end of the day.
Beyond the estate, the team arranges guided hikes, group trips to the beaches of Fuseta, boat taxis to Culatra island in the Ria Formosa, horse riding and olive oil tastings.
Wellness Facilities
Yoga takes place in an outdoor shala set among the trees, with daily classes in Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin and Restorative yoga alongside guided meditation. A dedicated reformer studio hosts small-group mat and reformer Pilates, and a fully equipped gym supports strength training, group classes and one-to-one personal training.
For recovery, a traditional dry sauna, a hammam and an ice bath create a hot and cold circuit, with guided breathwork and ice bath sessions available. Spa treatment rooms offer massage, lymphatic drainage, facials and holistic therapies, alongside sound healing, life coaching and nutritionist consultations. An onsite Health Check, included in selected programmes, covers body composition, blood pressure, a blood test and urinalysis, followed by a consultation to talk through the results and shape the rest of the stay.
Dining
Meals at Shanti Som Algarve are fresh and full of flavour, drawing on Asian and Middle Eastern influences and prepared each day with seasonal ingredients, with nothing fried or processed. Three wellness-focused meals are included daily on every programme — buffet breakfasts with a warm dish each morning, a lunch of rotating salads, soups and warm sides, and a three-course dinner that changes daily, served in the farmhouse restaurant.
Between meals, fresh juices, smoothies, herbal teas and light snacks are available through the day. Detox guests follow a personalised plan of daily juices, broths and supplements under the guidance of the wellness team, and vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free diets are all catered for, with nutritionist consultations available for a tailored plan to take home.
Good to Know
Accommodation
Shanti Som Algarve has 22 rooms within the restored farmhouse, each designed as a calm, restful space between sessions. Interiors are understated and warm — smooth microcement finishes, soft natural tones and simple, considered details — with an emphasis on quiet and good sleep throughout. Selected rooms look out across the estate's orange groves and the surrounding countryside, and some enjoy garden or sea views.
Location
Shanti Som Algarve sits in the countryside above Moncarapacho, inland from Olhão in the eastern Algarve. Faro Airport is 25 minutes away by car, and Lisbon around three hours. Fuseta and the sandy islands of the Ria Formosa lagoon are about 15 minutes away. The surrounding villages of Olhão and Tavira, the Ria Formosa's salt marshes and the barrier island beaches give this corner of the Algarve a calm, traditional character.
