Six Senses Vana
Ayurveda, Yoga, Tibetan Medicine and Healing Retreat
About Six Senses Vana
Six Senses Vana is a wellness retreat in the Himalayan foothills of northern India, set within 21 acres of protected Sal forest just outside Dehradun. Founded in 2014 by Veer Singh and now part of the Six Senses portfolio, it draws on four healing traditions — Ayurveda, Yoga, Tibetan Medicine (Sowa Rigpa) and Natural Healing Therapies — each delivered by specialists who have trained deeply in their discipline. Six Senses Vana is one of the few places in the world where Sowa Rigpa is formally offered in its complete form.
Every stay is all-inclusive and shaped around the individual — daily group sessions, private treatments, guided nutrition and a personal wellness guide from arrival to departure. The atmosphere is calm and purposeful, the Sal forest setting quietly immersive, and the daily rhythm consistent enough to allow genuine, lasting change.

01
Those drawn to traditional healing systems
Ayurvedic doctors, Tibetan Medicine specialists trained at the Men-Tsee-Khang, TCM acupuncturists and Natural Healing therapists all work on site. Six Senses Vana is one of the few places in the world where Sowa Rigpa is formally offered in its complete form.
02
Guests wanting a fully immersive, all-inclusive retreat
Over 15 group sessions daily — yoga, meditation, fitness, Raag therapy and more — alongside daily private treatments, wellness consultations and guided nutrition with a personal wellness guide throughout.
03
Solo travellers wanting a supportive community atmosphere
Many guests arrive alone. Shared sessions, optional communal dining and the Sal forest setting create natural opportunities to connect without any social pressure.
04
Those wanting a nature-led Himalayan setting with cultural depth
21 acres of protected Sal forest outside Dehradun, with excursions to the Ganga Aarti at Rishikesh and hikes through the Jabarkhet Nature Reserve for guests staying seven nights or more.
Hotel Facilities
Six Senses Vana is set within a quiet Sal forest landscape, with reflection gardens, ponds and fruit orchards creating a sense of space and seclusion. A wide range of daily activities is available — yoga and meditation sessions, guided nature walks, wellness talks, cooking classes and apothecary workshops. Quieter spaces include a Meditation Cave, the Bodhi Tree, a library and Cinema Paradiso for evening screenings.
Recreational facilities include a multi-sports area with tennis, padel, badminton, basketball, football and cricket courts, alongside indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The Alchemy Bar — a dedicated space for biohacking and wellness experimentation — runs sessions through the week.
Wellness Facilities
The wellness facilities at Six Senses Vana span an Ayurveda Centre, Tibetan Healing Centre, Wellness Centre, spa and Aqua Fitness area. Six Senses Vana is one of the few retreats in the world to formally offer Tibetan Medicine (Sowa Rigpa) in its complete form — with Dr Tenzin Sopa, trained at the Chagpori Tibetan Medical Institute, leading the centre.
A 20-metre temperature-controlled outdoor pool, an indoor heated pool and a dedicated Watsu pool for aquatic bodywork are available alongside a well-equipped gym with Kinesis machines and full heat and wet spa facilities. The Six Senses approach to personalised wellness — including biomarker screening, movement efficiency testing, sleep tracking and BOD POD body composition analysis — runs alongside the traditional healing disciplines throughout each stay.
Dining
Dining at Six Senses Vana follows the Eat With Six Senses philosophy — locally sourced, seasonal and organic, with a SLOW approach (Sustainable, Local, Organic, Wholesome) running through every menu. Ingredients are adapted to support each guest's programme and Ayurvedic constitution.
Salana is the main restaurant, serving seasonal à la carte menus alongside buffet elements at breakfast and lunch — lightly spiced and thoughtfully prepared, with vegetarian, vegan and allergy-friendly options alongside responsibly sourced meat and fish. Anayu focuses on Ayurvedic cuisine, with menus created around the three doshas — Vata, Pitta and Kapha — for guests following Ayurvedic guidance. The Kila Tea Lounge serves herbal infusions and traditional blends using tulsi, chamomile, fennel, cinnamon and other homegrown botanicals. The on-site apothecary prepares herbal decoctions, infusions and topical applications prescribed by the medical team — grown in, not flown in, using indigenous ingredients throughout.
Good to Know
To maintain a sense of equality and simplicity, guests are provided with organically made kurta pyjamas to wear around the retreat. This allows for light packing and contributes to the calm, uniform atmosphere throughout the stay.
Accommodation
Six Senses Vana has 66 rooms, 16 suites and four casas, all in muted soothing tones that keep the focus on the forest outside. Every room has a private balcony or terrace and wall-to-ceiling windows looking out over the Sal forest, the gardens or the mango orchards — quiet, meditative views that complement the pace of the retreat.
Location
Six Senses Vana sits on Mussoorie Road outside Dehradun, in the foothills of the Himalayas in Uttarakhand. The retreat is set within a protected Sal forest, with the hills of Mussoorie rising to the north and the Ganges valley and Rishikesh — one of the most significant centres of yoga and Vedic study in the world — within reach for guests on longer stays.
Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is approximately 60 minutes away by road, with regular flights from Delhi. For guests travelling by train, Dehradun railway station is 30 minutes from the retreat, with overnight services from New Delhi taking around six hours.
