RIVIERA MAYA, MEXICO

Palmaïa - The House of AïA

All-Inclusive Holistic Wellness and Plant-Based Resort

About Palmaïa - The House of AïA

Palmaïa — The House of AïA is an all-inclusive holistic wellness resort on Mexico's Riviera Maya, set between a kilometre of Caribbean beach and 400 hectares of tropical jungle on Mayan sacred ground. The resort is built on a site where remnants of Mayan sacred sites still exist within the grounds, and the philosophy throughout reflects that — a strong emphasis on nature connection, conscious living, plant-forward nutrition and emotional wellbeing.

The wellness offer is shaped by four pathways known as AïA Wellness. The Nourishing Biome covers plant-forward organic cuisine across six dining venues, with no refined sugars, no refined seed oils and over 90% of dishes prepared from scratch. Portals of Practice brings together over 50 weekly holistic classes and ceremonies — yoga, breathwork, Temazcal, Cacao ceremony, Mayan ceremony The Genesis, sound healing and creative workshops — led by 35 resident Architects of Life and a rotating programme of Visiting Guides. Rituals of Sound takes the form of barefoot beach music gatherings at sunset. The Restorative Temple centres on Atlantis Spa, where Mayan healing practitioners deliver bodywork and ceremonial treatments in open-air jungle temples.

Hotel Facilities

Palmaïa is spread across extensive beachfront and jungle grounds, with four ocean-facing infinity pools including an adults-only pool, and smaller plunge pools set within the jungle. A long stretch of undeveloped Caribbean beach supports swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding. Natural cenotes sit within the grounds alongside walking trails, a jungle gym, a Rituals Deck set within the jungle and quiet spaces for reflection.

A woven wooden tunnel connects the suites to the beach, and elevated walkways wind through the jungle canopy between restaurants, healing spaces and gathering points. Social spaces include the EOLO Beach Club and Atlas Club, lounge areas and evening music venues. The Awen Kids Club offers a screen-free space for creativity and nature-based play.

Wellness Facilities

The Atlantis Spa sits within the jungle grounds, built around natural cenotes and ancient rock formations. Treatments draw on Mayan healing traditions and energy-based practices, with bodywork and ceremonial sessions delivered in open-air jungle temples by practitioners whose knowledge has been passed down through generations. A Temazcal, meditation areas and outdoor treatment spaces complete the spa facilities.

The Portals of Practice programme runs over 50 weekly experiences — yoga, breathwork, sound healing, gong meditation, singing bowl sessions, Cacao ceremony, Temazcal, Mayan ceremony The Genesis and creative workshops — led by 35 resident Architects of Life alongside visiting masters. The Rituals of Sound programme brings guests to EOLO Beach Club at sunset, where resident and visiting artists blend organic electronic music with ancestral instruments — evenings around the fire or barefoot on the sand that change with every session.

Dining

Dining at Palmaïa is shaped by the Nourishing Biome philosophy — seasonal and organic ingredients prepared without refined sugars or seed oils, with over 90% of dishes made from scratch. The approach is plant-forward across all six venues, with non-vegan options available on request.

Lek serves elevated Mexican cuisine exploring regional dishes and ingredients beyond the familiar — the culinary equivalent of discovering a country through its local markets rather than its tourist menus.

Su Casa uses wood-fired cooking to bring depth to modern healthy dishes.

Mar de Olivo takes a Mediterranean approach with homemade pastas and fresh produce.

Ume serves Japanese-influenced Oriental cuisine with a premium sake menu in a jungle-influenced interior.

Charley's Vegan Taco Food Truck brings street taco culture to the beach, replicating meat textures and flavours entirely from plants.

Plantissa is the healthy café — smoothies, bowls, fresh juices, bakery items and what the resort describes as the best coffee on the property.

The EOLO Beach Club and Atlas Club handle cocktails and drinks alongside visiting sound artists and local DJs through the evening.

Good to Know

Accommodation

Palmaïa has 234 oceanfront suites, each with a private terrace looking directly over the Caribbean Sea. All suites are free of animal products — no feather bedding, no leather furnishings and no materials tested on animals — a natural extension of the resort's conscious living philosophy and its commitment to cruelty-free design throughout.

Location

Palmaïa sits at the southernmost point of Playa del Carmen on Mexico's Riviera Maya, surrounded by 400 hectares of tropical jungle on one side and a quiet stretch of Caribbean coastline on the other. There are no roads into the resort — access is through a neighbouring development by golf cart, which creates a natural separation from the outside world from the moment of arrival. Cancún International Airport is approximately 45 minutes away.

Playa del Carmen itself is within easy reach for guests wanting to explore — shops, restaurants and the ferry to Cozumel are all close by. The wider Riviera Maya offers cenote diving, Mayan archaeological sites including Tulum and Cobá, and the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve to the south.
