Hotel Facilities

Set within 25,000 square metres of tropical gardens on a private hillside above Rawai, the resort is built around a 680sqm free-form saltwater pool with a shaded swim-up bar and waterfall gardens alongside. The pool and gardens are open 24 hours. A Himalayan rock salt infrared sauna complements the spa facilities.

An open-air yoga sala hosts twice-daily sessions — Kundalini, Vinyasa, Yin and Hatha yoga alongside guided meditation — with a 24-hour fitness room available for independent use. The weekly programme includes Thai cooking demonstrations, local market visits in Rawai and guided sunrise and sunset hikes. A complimentary shuttle runs daily to Nai Harn Beach, 10 minutes away.

Wellness Facilities

The Mangosteen Ayurveda Spa, which now includes the Crystal Spa, is where most of the programme takes place. Every stay begins with a consultation with one of the two resident Ayurvedic doctors, who prescribes the treatments, diet and daily schedule that follow.

Classical Ayurvedic therapies include Abhyanga oil massage, Shirodhara, Chakra Dhara, herbal therapies, Marma-based treatments and Panchakarma cleansing, with treatments sequenced to support circulation, nervous system recovery and deep restoration. Natural and plant-based ingredients are used throughout, with oils and preparations selected according to individual constitution.

Dining

The open-air restaurant has a show kitchen and serves dosha-balanced Ayurvedic cuisine alongside a Thai menu and Mediterranean dishes — all prepared fresh daily using organic and locally sourced ingredients where possible. Retreat guests on full-board programmes eat to a menu personalised to their dosha and programme phase, with three meals a day included. The Pool and Lounge Bar serves light meals and drinks through the day and evening, and an underground wine cellar is available for guests wanting to mark a celebration or simply enjoy a glass at dinner.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Mangosteen Ayurveda & Wellness Resort unique?

Mangosteen Ayurveda & Wellness Resort is a family-owned Ayurveda retreat in Phuket, set on a private hillside in Rawai on the south coast of the island — one of the longest-established dedicated Ayurveda resorts in Thailand, open since 2003. Two resident Ayurvedic doctors oversee every stay, with treatments, diet and daily schedule all prescribed individually from the first consultation. The adults-only setting, 47 villas among 25,000 square metres of tropical gardens and views across four bays give it a warmth and intimacy that keeps guests coming back year after year.

What Ayurvedic treatments and programmes are available?

Nine programmes run from 2 to 28 nights — from the Reward of Life short break and Pure Yoga introduction to the Ananda Healing programme, Juice and Raw Food Detox, Burnout Prevention and the full Ayuryoga Panchakarma. Classical Ayurvedic therapies include Abhyanga oil massage, Shirodhara, Chakra Dhara, herbal therapies and Marma-based treatments, with Panchakarma cleansing available on longer stays. Natural and plant-based oils and preparations are selected according to individual constitution throughout.

Is Mangosteen a genuine Ayurveda retreat in Thailand?

Mangosteen is one of Thailand's few dedicated Ayurvedic retreats with resident doctors on site year-round. The two Ayurvedic doctors carry out all consultations and prescriptions, oversee treatment sequences and adjust programmes as the stay progresses — the depth and continuity of the medical oversight is what distinguishes it from a hotel with an Ayurveda menu.

What is the food like at Mangosteen?

The open-air restaurant serves dosha-balanced Ayurvedic cuisine alongside a Thai menu and Mediterranean dishes — all freshly prepared using organic and locally sourced ingredients. Guests on full-board programmes eat to a menu personalised to their dosha and programme phase. The Pool and Lounge Bar serves light meals and drinks through the day, and an underground wine cellar is available for guests wanting to mark a special occasion.

Is Mangosteen suitable for solo travellers?

Many guests arrive alone. The family-run atmosphere, small scale and adults-only setting create a warm environment from day one, and the twice-daily yoga sessions and communal dining provide a natural rhythm for connecting with other guests when wanted.

When is the best time to visit Mangosteen?

Phuket's dry season runs from November to April — the most settled weather, calm seas and the best conditions for combining the programme with time at Nai Harn Beach. The resort is open year-round and programmes run in every season, with a 10% low season discount available from May to October.
