Azulfit

Yoga, Pilates and Wellness Retreat

About Azulfit

Azulfit is a boutique yoga and Pilates retreat in Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands, and one of the most loved healing retreats in Europe. Running year-round from the Surya Retreat Centre in the quiet village of Villaverde, it's the kind of place guests come back to year after year — for the classes, the food, the sunshine and the people they meet.

The week centres around daily yoga and Pilates classes for all levels, fresh vegetarian meals, and a relaxed communal atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in from day one. Whether you're looking to deepen your practice, take a proper break from everyday life, or simply spend a week moving well and eating well in the sun, Azulfit has been doing exactly this for 18 years — and it shows. It's particularly popular with solo travellers and first-time retreat guests.

Who It's For

Azulfit suits guests looking for an active, informal yoga and Pilates retreat in Fuerteventura with a strong sense of community and a genuinely all-levels welcome. With daily classes, good food and a relaxed social atmosphere, it works equally well as a first retreat or a regular annual reset. It's particularly suited to:

01

Solo travellers

Communal meals, shared classes and a relaxed group dynamic — the majority of guests arrive alone.

02

Beginners and those returning to practice

Classes adapt to whoever is in the room, with private sessions available for more focused work.

03

Guests who want movement without intensity

The weekly schedule is full but never pressured — the pool, hot tub and garden are there for the quieter mornings.

04

Anyone wanting a healthy reset in the Canary Islands

Year-round sunshine, clean vegetarian food, daily movement and proper rest — 18 years of consistent delivery.

Hotel Facilities

Set within a traditional Canarian villa in the quiet village of Villaverde, the retreat is surrounded by expansive gardens filled with native plants, flowers and palm trees. The swimming pool and hot tub are the natural gathering point between classes, with hammocks and garden seating offering quieter spots to read or rest. Classes take place on the open-air yoga deck and in the dedicated Pilates studio, with a cosy communal lounge with fireplace for cooler evenings. For guests wanting to see more of the island, the team can arrange surfing, paddleboarding, scuba diving and guided volcano hikes.

Wellness Facilities

Azulfit has two dedicated treatment rooms where experienced therapists offer a range of holistic therapies including deep tissue massage, sports massage, facials and beauty treatments. Sessions can be booked throughout the week alongside the class programme or taken on quieter days. The studio also houses two reformer machines — private reformer Pilates sessions are available to book at an additional cost, ideal for guests wanting more focused one-to-one work.

Dining

Food at Azulfit is vegetarian and largely plant-based, made fresh daily using high-quality ingredients — many grown in the retreat's own garden. Meals are served communally, which suits the relaxed social atmosphere well. Breakfast and dinner are included and eaten together at the villa; lunches come as a packed takeaway box to enjoy by the pool or out on the island. Monday evenings bring a pay-it-forward charity meal in support of Azulfit's Seva mission, and Wednesdays are free for guests to eat out locally if they want a change of scene.

Good to Know

Accommodation

Accommodation at Azulfit is varied and characterful, with 16 individually designed rooms and spaces spread across the Surya Retreat Centre. Some are simple and compact, others more spacious, with views across the courtyard, pool or volcanic landscape. All are comfortable, clean and built for a good night's sleep.

Location

Azulfit is located in Villaverde, a quiet village in the north of Fuerteventura, surrounded by volcanic landscapes with views across to the ocean. Away from the busier resort areas of the island, the setting is calm without being remote. A public bus runs through the village every hour in both directions, reaching the opposite coasts in around 20 to 25 minutes, making it easy to explore the beaches and towns without hiring a car. Fuerteventura Airport is approximately 30 minutes away by road.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need experience in yoga or Pilates to attend?

No — classes welcome all levels from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. Teachers adapt sessions to whoever is in the room, with modifications and progressions throughout. If you have a specific injury or condition, private sessions are a particularly good option.

How many guests are typically on a retreat week?

Retreats typically run with 14 to 18 guests — small enough for personal attention from the teachers, large enough to create a genuinely warm social atmosphere.

Is Azulfit suitable for solo travellers?

The majority of guests arrive alone. Meals are shared communally, classes run in small groups, and the relaxed social atmosphere makes it easy to connect with others from day one. Evenings out to local restaurants are a regular informal group activity.

Is reformer Pilates included in the retreat price?

Mat Pilates classes are included in the weekly programme. The retreat also has two reformer machines available for private one-to-one sessions, bookable at an additional cost — a good option for guests wanting more focused or personalised Pilates work.

What is there to do outside of classes?

The retreat has a swimming pool, hot tub, hammocks and garden spaces for downtime between sessions. For those wanting to explore the island, the team can arrange surfing, paddleboarding, scuba diving and guided volcano hikes. The beaches at Corralejo are about 15 minutes away, and a public bus runs through Villaverde every hour in both directions. Wednesday evenings are free for guests to eat out locally — the team can recommend nearby restaurants.

What is the food like and can dietary requirements be catered for?

All meals are vegetarian, with vegan and gluten-free options available. The kitchen can accommodate most dietary requirements with advance notice — please flag anything on the booking form. For severe allergies, contact Azulfit directly before booking so the kitchen team can advise properly.

Is alcohol available on site?

Azulfit does not serve or sell alcohol on site. Guests may bring their own for consumption during dinner hours, mindful of fellow guests. Quiet hours begin at 10pm, and the pool and hot tub close at 10pm.

When do retreats start and how long do they run?

Retreats run for seven nights, starting each Saturday afternoon and finishing the following Saturday.
