SRI LANKA

Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle

Luxury Coastal Resort and Ayurvedic Spa

About Anantara Peace Tangalle

Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort is a luxury coastal resort on Sri Lanka's southern coast, set within 21 acres of coconut plantation on a rocky outcrop above the Indian Ocean at Tangalle — the only resort on this stretch of coast in this position. Surrounded by a crescent beach, coconut palms and the rugged beauty of the southern coastline, it sits at the gateway to some of the island's least visited and most rewarding destinations — Yala, Udawalawe, the Sinharaja rainforest and the ancient Mulkirigala Rock Temple all within reach.

The Anantara Spa draws on Ayurvedic traditions alongside signature Sri Lankan treatments — the Signature Ceylon Retreat weaving black tea and lime, green tea salt scrub, coconut body wrap and Abhyanga massage into a single 2.5-hour journey. Four five-day Ayurveda programmes cover inner harmony, deep sleep, natural weight management and detox, guided by a resident Ayurvedic doctor. Nine dining venues, sunrise yoga by the sea and an exclusive surf partnership with Tropicsurf add further depth to the stay.

Hotel Facilities

Anantara Peace Haven sits within 21 acres of coconut plantation on a rocky outcrop above the Indian Ocean, with a crescent beach directly below and a 25-metre split-level infinity pool overlooking the water alongside a separate children's pool. A Les Clefs d'Or concierge team and complimentary tuk-tuk service and bicycles make exploring the southern coast straightforward. The Anantara Surf Centre by Tropicsurf offers an exclusive surf programme, and a Nature Guru leads complimentary walks through the resort's horticultural garden, mangroves, coastal ecosystem and organic rice field. The Joli Kids' and Teens' Club runs daily activities, the Spice Spoons cooking class takes guests from local market to lunch table, and the daily Catch of the Day sees a local fisherman arrive each morning with the fresh catch for guests to select for dinner.

Wellness Facilities

The Anantara Spa sits in a peaceful garden setting with four single and four double treatment suites, Ayurvedic treatment rooms, a facial room, beauty salon and steam rooms for both male and female guests. A resident Ayurvedic doctor oversees everything — classical healing therapies including Pizhichil, Shirodhara and Kativasthi sit alongside the Signature Ceylon Retreat, which draws on black tea and lime, green tea salt scrub, coconut body wrap and Abhyanga massage using Sri Lanka's finest indigenous ingredients. Four five-day Ayurveda programmes guide guests through inner harmony, deep sleep, natural weight management and detox. Ayu Lavanya, the resort's Ayurveda beauty parlour, offers shorter treatments for guests wanting a lighter introduction to Sri Lanka's healing traditions.

Dining

Nine venues range from cliffside Italian and beachside teppanyaki to private treehouse lunches and a dedicated wine dining room — some of the most varied and atmospheric dining of any resort on the southern coast.

Journeys is the main all-day restaurant, serving international cuisine with Sri Lankan highlights at breakfast and dinner.

Il Mare sits on the cliffside overlooking the ocean — Italian cuisine, fresh seafood and wine in one of the most dramatic settings on the property.

Verala is the beachside evening restaurant — Sri Lankan cuisine, live teppanyaki and sushi in an open coastal setting.

Harvest Table by Anantara serves farm-to-table Sri Lankan private dining in a rustic treehouse, with the daily menu shaped by the garden and the morning's catch.

Lobby Lounge serves afternoon tea, cocktails and shisha in the evenings.

Poolside Bar serves light bites and refreshments throughout the day.

El Vino offers private wine dining with curated pairings — advance booking required.

Designer Dining arranges private dining on the beach or at a location of the guest's choosing, on request.

Spice Spoons is the resort's Sri Lankan cooking class — a local market visit followed by a hands-on session and lunch.

In-room dining is available 24 hours throughout the stay.

Good to Know

The ocean at Tangalle can be rough and is not suitable for swimming — guests wanting calmer water can take a short tuk-tuk to Beliatta Station and catch a train along the coast. The beach is a protected turtle nesting site, and the resort actively supports local conservation efforts throughout the year.

Accommodation

Anantara Peace Haven has 152 rooms and pool villas, all with private balconies or terraces looking out over the tropical gardens or the Indian Ocean. Interiors draw on Sri Lankan motifs and natural materials throughout — warm tones and local craftsmanship in keeping with the character of the southern coast. The pool villas each have a private plunge pool and terrace, with Villa Host service throughout the stay.

Location

Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle sits on Sri Lanka's southern coast at Tangalle, approximately three hours from Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo and one hour from Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport — the more convenient arrival point for guests flying domestically or from the Maldives. Beliatta Station is 20 minutes away for guests arriving by train from Colombo. The surrounding area rewards exploration — Yala and Udawalawe National Parks, the Sinharaja UNESCO World Heritage rainforest, Galle Fort, the Rekawa turtle conservation project and the Hummanaya blowhole, the world's second largest, are all within reach of the resort.
