Sen Wellness Sanctuary's holistic recipe has been carefully designed to balance your whole being, on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. The primary ingredients are Ayurvedic treatments and herbal medicines, yoga and meditation practices, immersive nature experiences and nourishing meals, and powerful group ceremonies and rituals. The retreat is simple and peaceful with the Yoga Shala overlooking the lush treetops. The expansive space is used for yoga classes, group healing and dance and music workshops. The swimming pool is tastefully framed by palm trees while soft golden sand and the energetic waves of the Indian Ocean make a dramatic backdrop for your place of retreat. In order to allow your mind to truly disconnect, Wi-Fi is only available in common areas - 1 hour at breakfast time at dinner time.

Dining

Enjoy Ayurvedic meals with home-style Sri Lankan influence prepared by a local chef with fresh, seasonal ingredients and spices bought from the local market and served buffet-style at a communal dining table. The menu is tailored accordingly with Ayurvedic principles and emphasises vegetarian and gluten-free meals, occasionally featuring fresh local fish. They provide two wholesome main meals during the day, followed by a lighter dinner to allow the digestive system to rest. The rereat refrains from serving coffee and alcohol to cleanse the system, complementing the treatments.

Spa

All programmes begin with a consultation the in-house Ayurveda doctor to determine your personalised treatment plan according to your wellness goals including more specialised wellness programmes including detox, weight loss and targeted treatment for long-covid.

Good to know

The current is too strong to swim directly on the retreat's doorstep, but a picturesque, 25 minute walk along Rekawa Beach will take you to a rock pool where it is safe to swim.

The daily rhythm at the Sanctuary is designed to make space for deep rest, and for some, this will look like spending more time alone for quiet contemplation in between treatments. For those who embrace a slightly busier schedule, there is an optional excursion or activity on offer each day.

Sen Wellness Sanctuary is situated on Sri Lanka’s southern coastline, near the towns of Netolpitiya and Tangalle. In keeping with their philosophy that nature is the best healer, the team has designed The Sanctuary to function in harmony with its surroundings. It is located between pristine National Park and Rekawa Beach, a protected turtle nesting beach.

The 8 low key, yet luxury cabanas sleep up to 16 people, designed by Brazilian-American architect Adriana Arbex to mimic the natural shape of the conical shell to draw earth energy up from the land to be experienced by guests whilst staying in the rooms. Each of the twin and king-size rooms are carefully designed to allow natural ventilation avoiding the need for air-conditioning; thanks to the beachside location the resort is naturally cool. The bathrooms are open to the elements so guests can experience a shower whilst star gazing.
